A Gift of Support For Parents in Grief

Mending the Broken Heart: After Your Child Dies is a newly released and one-of-a-kind audio book created to gently guide parents through the long and painful journey following a child’s death, regardless of the child’s age. Authored and narrated by licensed professional counselor Beryl Kaminsky, this audio book includes a soothing series of 5 tracks that lead bereaved parents through the essential steps of managing grief, maintaining health, dealing with others, and coping during holidays and other events. Through questions, examples, and conversation, Beryl prepares grieving parents for the major changes that lie ahead, including the death’s effect on the parents’ health, finances, relationships, work, faith and more. Specific examples of how other grieving parents have dealt with these obstacles are particularly helpful. Information on the CD also debunks myths, addresses fears associated with the loss of children, and also gives parents and families sound advice about when to seek professional counsel. What Grieving Parents Said

Beryl Kaminsky has provided a soothing audio recording for bereaved parents. Due to the inability of the mind to initially grasp the finality and depth of loss when our child dies, reading material is not always absorbed. Many parents cannot tolerate loud noise or a bombardment of information.  Beryl’s sweet voice and words of wisdom were first presented to our Compassionate Friends chapter during a seminar for bereaved parents. Her presentation is gentle yet informative. The advantage of an audio recording is the ability of the newly bereaved parent to listen to the recording many times and gradually gain new insight.

Our chapter leadership encouraged Beryl to record this presentation. The balanced material and the delicate nature of the audio presentation work together soothingly, providing the bereaved parent a bit of foresight when traveling the road of grief after the death of a child.

As a bereaved parent and a mother who works closely with newly bereaved parents, I highly recommend this audio recording for the newly bereaved. This is also an excellent resource for parents who have moved forward in their grief, because no matter how much time has passed since our children died, we will always carry the pain of our loss in our hearts.

I have a beautiful son, Christopher, who died of mitochondrial disease as he finished telling me he loved me. My life has never been the same.  I now have an added dimension of my life – the death of my youngest child – that is part of who I am. Beryl’s book covers what that journey is about and includes many practical help ideas to help parent and sisters and brothers understand and live life well with that new dimension. Thank you, Beryl.

Listening to Beryl Kaminsky’s beautifully crafted words and sentiments in her CD “Mending the Broken Heart: After Your Child Dies,” is a healing experience indeed! Although my daughter died as an infant, she was and still is a part of me. I found Beryl’s soothing voice, her expert counsel and professional insights wonderful. I most appreciate the concrete steps she recommends with each phase of the grief process. Her examples are among the best I’ve ever heard. Thank you Beryl.

As a professional counselor, I found myself experiencing grief in totally unexpected ways when my son died. At the time, I found few guidelines for what to expect of myself and my reactions.. forgetting where I was going, feeling overwhelmed or crazy, angering easily and too extremely, crying without end… all normal grief reactions which somehow no resource told me about or how to treat myself along this necessary journey. This audio book offers gentle guidance along the way.
