Experience
Beryl Kaminsky grew up in a fractured family which struggled greatly after the death of her older sister. Her experience of losing both siblings and her father by the time she was a young adult transformed Beryl, while creating a passion to help others who have lost loved ones.
Beryl Kaminsky is one of three counselors in the greater Houston area trained specifically in the field of death, dying and grief by the Association of Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). She brings to her practice a unique blend of education, professional experience, and insight gained from her own personal experience with grief. While working at several local hospices and counseling centers, Beryl has used her exceptional capacity for compassion, listening, and empathy to provide emotional and spiritual support to both the dying and their loved ones. For three years, Beryl facilitated a mother’s loss group and a traumatic loss group at Bo’s Place, Houston’s grief center for children and their families. She worked at Omega House Hospice, providing support to residents dying with AIDS. She has also served as the bereavement counselor at Houston Hospice, where she provided support for the loved ones of patients who died.
Beryl is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and is Certified in Thanatology: Death, Dying, and Bereavement. She provides individual counseling and grief support groups for adults who have lost loved ones due to natural causes, accidents, suicide, homicide, war, and AIDS. In addition to her private therapy practice, Beryl provides training and support as a frequent lecturer for hospitals, educational institutions, trade organizations, small businesses, and the public on issues of dying, bereavement, and loss.
